Pompous Ali Velshi Declares Trump Caused ‘The Death of Shame’

Perhaps one of the most exasperating things about the liberal media is that it accuses everyone that disagrees with it of lying while simultaneously lying through its teeth. On Saturday’s Velshi, MSNBC host Ali Velshi demonstrated this stunning lack of self-awareness by pompously declaring that Donald Trump’s administration caused “the death of shame” and alleging that before the Trump administration, all public figures who were caught lying either apologized or resigned after being called out by the media.

Velshi began his ridiculous monologue by declaring that he was so enthused by the Biden inauguration that he “watched” it “like a nervous parent, making sure everything went as planned.”

Velshi then praised Biden for “struggling” to restore “normalcy” and demonstrated an alarming lack of knowledge about American history by declaring that 2020 “takes first place” in American history “for death, destruction, fear, and injustice.” In other words, the mean bad orange man was so mean and bad that there was not as much “death” or “destruction” during the Civil War or “injustice” during slavery or Jim Crow.

Velshi then ranted about how Trump caused “the death of shame” and once again demonstrated that he needs to pick up a history book by claiming that until the Trump administration, all public figures who were caught lying by the media either apologized or resigned from their positions:

One thing with which we will struggle in this new day for America is the death of shame. In addition to the other norms that the former president destroyed, he turned lying, deliberate, casual and often with the force of law into an art form and with that contributed to that death of shame. Let me give you an example. As you know, I’m a business journalist and for most of my career when I’d interviewed a CEO and they’d tell me that it wasn’t true and I had the evidence that it wasn’t true it would make for an awkward moment. They’d try to explain it away, their people would offer clarifications, and maybe there’d be a statement of of clarification — maybe even an apology. If the lie or any kind of wrongdoing pointed out by the press was significant, someone might resign, a red letter of sorts on their chest, a mark of shame. But for some people, some liars, there’s no shame now.

No doubt, Velshi will follow up on his own words and demand that Joe Biden resign for lying about the Hunter Biden scandal, cheating in college, and plagiarizing speeches; Kamala Harris to resign for using one of MLK’s life stories as her own; and his colleague Alex Witt to resign for lying last Sunday about a study about the minimum wage.

Of course, Velshi does not care about lying, as he himself lied about protests being “not unruly” while standing in front of a burning building last May. Additionally, last Sunday, he allowed one of his guests on his show to lie about Antifa protests in Portland by claiming that they have been peaceful.

Velshi continued to bash Trump and his officials for lying and patted himself on the back for not having Trump officials and supporters on his show:

One reason I haven’t had Trump officials or allies on my show for the last several month is that confronting them with the truth stopped mattering. When caught lying or distorting the facts, they just lied more. Some people it seemed are not embarrassed to be caught lying. To have to wear red a letter or two red letters, in the former president’s case, both capital I’s for impeachment, it means little to him. There’s no contrition. Rather he explains it away as partisan, or calls it a hoax or a witch hunt, a source of shame once again somehow morphed into a badge of honor.

Perhaps Trump labeled liberal media stories such as Russia collusion hoaxes and witch hunts because they were lies.

Velshi then self-righteously declared that “If we allowed what we witnessed in the past four years to continue, then shame on all of us.” However, considering that the liberal media rarely held Obama accountable for his lies, it is doubtful that it will hold Joe Biden accountable.

Velshi is correct that there has been a “death of shame,’” but it is due to the constant lying by him and his colleagues in the liberal media.

ALI VELSHI: I’ve watched every presidential inauguration that I can remember since I was a little boy and long before I ever imagined that I would live and work in America, but I had never watched one the way I watched the inauguration of Joe Biden. I never considered the details leading up to an inauguration. I watched this one like a nervous parent, making sure everything went as planned because for years, thanks to the last four years at least, everything is different. Our demons are on full display. Our union is certifiably imperfect. Our nation is divided. After a year that takes first place in our history for death, destruction, fear, and injustice, normalcy is struggling to regain its place and one thing with which we will struggle in this new day for America is the death of shame. In addition to the other norms that the former president destroyed, he turned lying, deliberate, casual and often with the forth — force of law into an art form and with that contributed to that death of shame. Let me give you an example. As you know, I’m a business journalist and for most of my career when I’d interviewed a CEO and they’d tell me that it wasn’t true  and I had the evidence that it wasn’t true it would make for an awkward moment. They’d try to explain it away, their people would offer clarifications, and maybe there’d be a statement of of — of clarification — maybe even an apology. If the lie or any kind of wrongdoing pointed out by the press was significant, someone might resign, a red letter of sorts on their chest, a mark of shame. But for some people, some liars, there’s no shame now. That thing, the death of shame, is the real catastrophe. If we humans do not feel shame in doing something wrong or in getting caught doing something wrong, what guardrails exist? When the powerful can’t be embarrassed by the bad choices they make, people suffer, democracy erodes, institutions crumble, justice is strangled, and lies proliferate and this time people died. If we allowed what we witnessed in the past four years to continue, then shame on all of us.
